Our Menu

by adamveggiegalaxy on September 8, 2011

By request to post our menu on-line, see below… to clarify, any items that don’t specifically mention eggs or cheese are vegan, and any items can be made vegan by substituting tofu eggs and/or our housemade vegan cheese.

All desserts, including our ice cream desserts, are vegan… yes, we even have a vegan lemon meringue pie, and it’s incredible!

Looks great! Could you tell me which vegan items are gluten free,or could be made gluten free? Thanks!

I just came back from a Veggie Galazy lunch with my picky husband and very picky son. We cleaned our plates. You guys have put together the best restaurant ever. I am serious – the food is amazing. Being able to order old favorites vegan-style nearly brought tears to my eyes. Thank you!!!

I second Karen’s question about gluten free items, and also- does your house made vegan cheese have nuts?

When we were there for the BVS event we couldn’t get an answer about YOUR homemade vegan cheese- does it have SOY in it? Also, What items have soy in them that aren’t obvious in the menu (coffee cream? whipped cream?, etc.)

I won’t give my young son soy (=estrogen!) and my partner and I can’t have soy b/c were TTC. (acup MD says no)

Also I asked if you serve Daiya cheese on anything and the waiter acted like he’d never heard of it- do you or will you?

Absolutely LOVED our dining experience- drove over an hour in traffic to get there (and got a great pkg spot out front!)

I third the request re: gluten-free. Definitely should carry UDI’s bread and buns so all your burgers and sandwiches can be served GF. 3 members of our family are celiac and we couldn’t go to VG tonight because we didn’t know what was what. We know you have your hands full with the launch but just want to make sure you eventually do carry GF offerings. Thanks!

We’re actually working on putting together a menu that includes only our gluten free items, so that there will be no guessing when you’re ordering.

For now, I can tell you that we do in fact carry Udi’s bread, so any of our sandwiches/burgers can be served on gluten free bread. All of our sandwiches would then be gluten free, and any of the burgers could be gluten free if you choose the mushroom chickpea patty (our black bean patty is NOT gluten free). As for desserts, we don’t have any gluten free pastries at the moment, but plan to develop some options in the future. In the meantime, our vegan puddings and ice cream desserts are gluten free.

Awesome! I will be in there tomorrow. And thanks for making the address more prominent on the site (having someone meet me there).

BTW, when you do your full website (and don’t do too much – less can be more), keep in mind this cartoon:

Oh,so the bread is Udi’s? I know it’s gluten free but I belive it contains eggs. Maybe I’ll just get my burger bunless!

Hooray! Udi’s! Just about the only decent tasting widely available gluten-free bread. Thanks for considering the Celiacs among us- oftentimes the vegan/vegetarian options are meagre in so many places. I LOVE Veggie Planet; I’m certain I and my family will adore Veggie Galaxy very, very soon (it’s an even closer walk for us than VP). Way to keep things awesome!

Yay! I’m so happy you have Udi’s bread and gluten free options! In which case, I will be stopping in this evening with some friends!

I was wondering whether all the (non-vegan) cheeses used are made with vegetarian rennet and enzymes.

Hi Holly,

Yes, all of our cheeses are vegetarian.

I think this menu would work better if you simply labeled which items were vegan, gluten free, etc with a V, GF, … Otherwise, expect me to ask about each item! It’s not as clear as you think it is.

We still plan to print a separate gluten-free menu – I apologize for how long it’s taking. In terms of vegan items, every single item on our menu is available as vegan (most by default). Simply tell your server you want the vegan version, and you should be good.
Thanks

What are the hours each day during which breakfast is served? And lunch? And dinner?

adamveggiegalaxy October 20, 2011 at 10:01 pm

We’re open from 7AM to 3PM and 5PM to 10PM every weekday and from 9AM to 3PM and 5PM to 10PM on weekends. Breakfast and lunch items are available at all times, while dinner items are available after 5PM.

I second Samantha’s question about the cheese! I am vegan and allergic to nuts, so I would really like to know if the house-made vegan cheese has nuts!!!

I’m a level-5 vegan. I do not eat anything that casts a shadow. Do you offer any items that meet my dietary needs?

Reply

adamveggiegalaxy November 28, 2011 at 2:40 am

Hi Mikey,

Most things on our menu are vegan by default, and all items can be made vegan. That being said, I’m afraid every vegetable and other ingredient we use does in fact cast a shadow when in the proper light. I’m afraid we’ve yet to discover an ingredient that doesn’t. I appreciate the Simpsons reference though.

Hi,
The menu looks wonderful (if a little heavy on the cheese!), and I expect I’ll be there soon for dinner. My main concern is with whole grain vs. refined flour. No gluten problems, but as one who loves to dine out for brunch, I am quite disappointed that- at least on this menu- there is no indication that the bread (incl. french toast), pancakes & muffins are made with whole grains. The only specifier I see is sourdough, which is irrelevant re fiber, glycemic index, etc.
I’d be happy to recommend a recipe for blueberry buckwheat pancakes (considered heart healthy with no egg yolks, milk, limited sugar, etc).
Thanks for asking,
Julie

Julie,

Thanks for the comment. We do have a Whole Wheat Bread option always available, and I can get the specifics on the blend of flour used if that would be helpful. With that, you’d be able to get any of our sandwiches, including the vegan egg and cheese sandwich, or even the french toast, although the french toast batter does contain AP flour. As far as adding additional items, ingredients, recipes to the mix, we still think it’s a bit early to change over our menu, as we’ve gotten some solid feedback on what we’ve currently been doing. As we continue to get more and more comfortable with our current menu, and volume of business, we do plan on increasing items, utilizing our ablility to run daily specials, which at brunch will at times include buckwheat pancakes, etc. Hope we can find some items to accommodate you.

Brian

We’re hoping to have wi-fi available shortly, but only during our morning hours. Stay tuned for more updates.
